Scout Executive Candidate - Green Mountain Council
Dear Green Mountain Council Scout Executive Selection Committee:
My Scouting story began in Vermont, first as a Tiger Cub in Colchester Pack 618 where my mom was my Den Mother and dad was a Cubmaster, and later as an Eagle Scout from Burlington Troop 650. Eight formative summers on staff at Mount Norris Scout Reservation and my first professional Scouting role in the Calvin Coolidge District showed me what this Council means to the families it serves. For me, the Scout Executive position is not simply a career progression — it's a chance to give back to the community that shaped my own path in Scouting. I welcome the opportunity to discuss how my background aligns with your vision for the Council's future.
Throughout my tenure across Vermont, Connecticut, and western New York, and currently at the national office of Scouting America, I have focused on driving results through strategic partnership, innovative membership recruitment, and volunteer/staff development. I have successfully managed Council budgets, directed comprehensive fundraising initiatives, and collaborated directly with Executive Boards to ensure fiscal transparency and long-term sustainability. My leadership approach is rooted in the belief that Scouting thrives when volunteers and professionals work together with clear communication and goals. I have a proven track record of coaching high-performing teams, raising capital dollars, and streamlining workflows to improve the experience for our families.
Green Mountain Council needs a Scout Executive who can balance the honor of our traditions with the necessity of operational growth and membership expansion. I bring a data-driven mindset to this challenge, leveraging CRM systems and AI-assisted prospect research to identify new streams of revenue and re-engage alumni. My approach to external communication ensures our donors and community stakeholders feel connected to our mission, while my focus on membership growth management ensures we are actively reaching new families in our key market areas. I have a proven track record of converting these strategies into tangible success, from raising $1.3M annually in direct support to securing complex bequests that safeguard Scouting longevity.
I am prepared to hit the ground running to ensure that every family's first 90 days in the Green Mountain Council are impactful, and that our infrastructure is supported by a culture of safety, trained adult volunteers, engaging programs, and strong, sustainable financial stewardship.
Thank you for your leadership on this very important task. I look forward to getting to know you and discussing how my experience can help advance our shared mission in Vermont.
Sincerely,
Tony
